Can a Canadian married to English person become a citizen automatically?

I have read that some countries grant automatic citizenship to people from other countries married to their citizens. Does this apply between Canada and UK?Can a Canadian married to English person become a citizen automatically?
No. My canadian friend is married to a Brit. He moved to Canada 20 years ago to work where he met and married her. They moved here to GB 3 years ago. She must apply for leave to remain when her 5 years are up.

I had only to wait 2 years to get my leave to remain. I could become a citizen, even get dual citizenship but I wont. My friend is getting dual for their children eventually but like me, she is keeping her Canadian citizenship. Can a Canadian married to English person become a citizen automatically?
The Yank is correct.

But remember you cannot get British citizenship without living in the UK for the 3 year period. You are only allowed a few months out for holidays etc and no longer than 3 months in the last year.
No. You would need to apply for a visa and live there for several years before you could get citizenship. :-)
no

. You have a very long process. If you marry and english person you get a 2 year spouse visa, after that you get an ILR visa, then after living in the UK for 3 years you can then apply for citizenship
No. You need initial two years together on a spouse visa, then apply for indefinite leave to remain. After another year (3 in total) you can apply for British citizenship.
i think they have really gone over board on this not in just in other country's but the us of a as well.
No - i am afraid not. You need to wait the three years if married to a british citizen before you can apply for British citizenship in the UK plus you need to be living in the UK during this time.
not automatically. there is some paperwork involved. my dad married a woman from honduras, and since she was illegal, with no green card, she could have been deported. but then she and my dad met, and since theyre married now she is a citizen.
