When married filing jointly, what is the correct way to fill out both W-4s?

Do you have to fill out the back side (2) or only (1st) side?On both forms? When married filing jointly, what is the correct way to fill out both W-4s?
The back side is just a worksheet to help determine witholding exemptions.

If you dont have a lot of deductions (mortgage interest, real estate taxes, children), then it's safest for each of you to claim ';1'; exemption. When married filing jointly, what is the correct way to fill out both W-4s?
You actually don't have to fill out the top or back of the form, that is for your benefit to make sure you take everything into account when deciding what exemptions you are entitled to. (But your payroll department doesn't even look at it) If you both have decent incomes, then it would be a good idea to complete the back of the form as you may want to have an additional dollar amount taken out in addition to the exemptions you claim or just lower the number of exemptions.

You can complete one form and decide from there, who is going to claim what. (My hubby and I split the deductions and it has worked out well for us)
