Thank you for your help! How do I amend 2 single original returns into married filing jointly?
Flip a coin, pick a spouse.

You can, but don't have to, use the spouse whose name usually goes first on joint documents. You can, but don't have to, use the spouse that made the most money or had the most complicated return.

Whichever name is first becomes column A. (There must be a return in the system for them.) Get the 1040X, fill in column A for that spouse.

Get a blank tax return, fill it in for the joint return. Do *not* send this return in. Use it to fill in column C. Do *not* use the other separate return to get column B.

Column B is a manual step. All it is, is the number $100 or ($100) that when added or subtracted from column A, makes the numbers match column C.

When you get to 17 and 19, ensure that you've accounted for the money from both returns filed.
