What is the Portuguese custom regarding married names?

In Portugal, when a man and a woman marry, what is the custom regarding surnames? Does the wife automatically take the husband's name?

Is it changing with the times as it is in the US, with hyphenated names, each keeping their own name, etc? Do men ever take their wife's name?

Thanks! What is the Portuguese custom regarding married names?
My fiance was born in the azores 48 years ago and him, both of his brothers and their parents all have 1 first name, 1 middle name and two last names. The two last names are the mothers last name after the middle and the fathers last name comes last. One of my friends just happens to be getting married in Portugal this week and she will be taking his last name as her last name, but I'm not sure if she is going to keep her maiden name. Hope that helped some. What is the Portuguese custom regarding married names?
Women only take the name of the husband if you want. There are few women who want the name of the husband!

In Portugal sometimes the wife add the husbands last name and I know one men that add the wife's last name to his name.

It is normal for a Portuguese to have 4 names for example I have 2 last names (father's last and mother's last) and I also have 2 first names, do you think I need any more? of course not. that's why most times Portuguese people don't want more names.
it is your choice , you choose if want husband麓s name or keeping your single name
